Detailed Product Description
Electric Meter Management System-AMR system:
AMR Is the Future
Utilities around the world are moving to Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) metering infrastructure. However, high capital investment cost and data communication problems have presented significant challenges to many companies. In fact, initial expense and ongoing reliability issues may offset the potential benefits of reduced meter reading costs and improved supply management. That is, until Nanjing Sanneng introduced their solution to AMR: the Net-Bridge AMR meter. The Sanneng Net-Bridge multi-modal mesh AMR system overcomes many of the problems inherent in earlier AMR equipment. The result: greater flexibility, high reliability, and lower cost.
The Evolution of AMR
First generation RF based mobile AMR systems had significant limitations, e.g., unreliable, one-way data transmission, the need for relay/repeater stations in high rise applications, and advanced scheduling of collector routing. Power Line Communication (PLC) based AMR systems operating over considerable distances often have high error rates due to spikes and background noise. Cellular (GSM/CDMA) based AMR systems offer two way communications, but cost more to purchase and to operate.
AMR: The Next Generation
Sannengs Net-Bridge system features the low cost of PLC systems and the reliability of the most expensive cellular based systems. The multi-modal mesh system is both intelligent and flexible. Sannengs sophisticated AMR meter determines the most cost-effective, reliable way to transmit data, automatically switching between PLC, infra red and RS485, if available. Two-way communication allows reprogramming of meter reading function as well as the interval between readings. All meters within a distribution transformer act as a local area network. By acting as a relay and concentrator, Sannengs advanced AMR meter allows a handheld infrared device to read each of the networked meters from any one meter within the network.
Nanjing Sanneng AMR -- Fail-Safe, Reliable, Affordable
Sannengs multi-modal mesh system is truly an endless, fail-safe, self-healing network. Net-Bridge equipment delivers unprecedented reliability at the lowest possible cost. The Net-Bridge AMR meter does not require an expensive General Packed Radio Service (GPRS) or Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) module. Sannengs network concentrator communicates with up to 1000 Net-Bridge AMR meters and provides wireless transmission to the main server. Meter installation requires very little programming because the network is intelligent enough to self-organize. Every Sanneng meter within a system is capable of rerouting (self-healing) and multi-hopping (with no limitation in the number of hops), in order to maintain reliable communication at all times.
Flexibility
Capital investment in AMR infrastructure can be achieved in stages. Sannengs Net-Bridge meter can be deployed initially without the concentrators. Manual meter readings efficiency can be improved dramatically by using infrared hand held devices.
Case Studies
Early in 2006, Sanneng successfully implemented their AMR system in Tianjin, China. Some 6000 Net-Bridge prepaid meters and 50 Net-Bridge concentrators were installed in eight residential areas. The operators goal was to collect electricity consumption information from prepaid meter users and manage electricity supply with the AMR system. Tianjin Power has achieved 100% communication success rate to all meters -- 24/7!
