First two units now in Malaysia! Semi industrial timber processing
set-up with bandsaw attracts interest Wood-Mizer UK manager James
Andrews reports that his company's medium scale timber processing
set-up of equipment around a band sawmill, is attracting a lot of
interest in Great Britain. The mill and ancillary equipment
represent a potential semi-industrial timber set-up which could
comfortably saw 25m3 per working day or 6 000m3 a year. In a
three-shift operation the same group of machines might produce up
to 60m3 a day or 15 000m3 a year. The layout involves integration
of an LT70 electric remote band sawmill, an incline conveyor to
remove boards from the sawmill and then a cross-transfer conveyor
which brings the boards or cants to the edger and/or MultiHead. The
Edger or multi-rip then edges boards or rips them into small
elements, while cants are passed through the MultiHead to resaw
them into battens or boards. This maximises production on the main
break-down saw. The Edger/Multi-rip is normally situated in-line,
while the MultiHead can also be set up independently for the
conversion of pallet blocks into boards. James Andrews adds: "With
round timber prices being tight and forestry contractors finding
markets increasingly difficult, there is a growing demand for
efficient sawmill equipment that unlocks the inherent value of
timber. "This diversification on Wood-Mizer's part allows
contractors to develop new, more profitable outlets for their
produce", he adds. Electric remote controlled band sawmill The
Wood-Mizer LT70 is the prominent feature and can be coupled with
three different bed lengths and be used in either stationary or
mobile applications
